Ian Suter Fashions of Marlow and Wallingford later re-branded as Suters ____________________________________________________________________
Article from Suters staff magazine Spotlight Mr. Ian resigned his directorship of Suters Ltd. On the 6th June, having made the decision to open his own Ladies Fashion business. In severing all connections with Suters he has taken a decision which can be admired, not only for its courage, but also for the manner in which his resignation was made. Mr. Ian, Mrs. Ian and Mrs Fox were largely responsible for building up our Fashion departments at Slough and, as a team, should make Ian Suter Fashions a mecca for the mini-skirted and the madams in Marlow. All the Directors wish Ian success in his new venture, but I must record my thanks to him for the support he has always given me as a member of the Executive. His wide practical experience in retailing has proved invaluable and it is this knowledge of the trade which will be the foundation for the future prosperity of his own company. D.C. Suter, Managing Director. After the sale of Suters Ltd in 1978 Ian Suter who had left the family business several years before 1978 had set up Ian Suter Fashions (later rebranded as Suters) with his wife Christine (who passed away on 7th October 2005) had been a fashion buyer at Suters. They were based in Marlow and Wallingford and eventually retired to Spain. Below: Information from March 1995 Source Tom Suter archives
